The Saint Alfio's Organization offers annual scholarships to eligible Greater Lawrence high school seniors who are bound for higher education at accredited colleges, universities or accepted vocational/technical institutions. Applicants domiciled in the following Massachusetts municipalities will be considered Greater Lawrence residents eligible and encouraged to apply for its annual scholarship awards: Those municipalities are Lawrence, Methuen, Andover and North Andover.

The St. Alfio Society of Lawrence recently awarded four $1,000 scholarships to four college-bound students. Paul Blais, left, chairman of the scholarship committee, presented the awards along with the help of St. Alfio member, Nelson Mariano, right. The recipients are: Front row left, Lawrence High School graduates, Monica Khun who will major in Biology at Simmons College and Aihoa Le who will major in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. Back row, Viet Le of Lawrence, Central Catholic graduate who will major in Engineering at University of Mass. in Lowell and Hailey Brunette, Methuen High graduate who will major in Aerospace Engineering at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Scholarship awards shall be granted to properly qualified students regardless of race, creed or lifestyle preference.

The award will be based on the following four criteria:
1. Scholastic Ability
2. Financial Need
3. Character and Community Involvement
4. School and Outside Activities

Lawrence High School, Central Catholic High School, Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical, Methuen High School
